This course introduces students to communications technology from a media perspective.Students will work in the areas of TV/video and movie production, radio and audio production, print and graphic communications, photography, and interactive new media and animation. Student projects may include computer-based activities such as creating videos, editing photos, working with audio, cartooning, developing animations, and designing web pages. Students will also develop an awareness of environmental and societal issues related to communications technology, and will explore secondary and post secondary education and training pathways and career opportunities in the various communications technology fields. This course examines communications technology from a media perspective. Students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in the areas of live, recorded, and graphic communications. These areas will include exploring HD video and compression formats, Adobe Flash w. actionscript, music production and radio broadcasting and an introduction to video game design; and interactive new media. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will explore college and university programs and career opportunities in the various communications and technology fields. There is no pre-requisite for this course, all are welcome! This course enrollment is limited to 21 students.

This dual-credit course will give students a fully-rounded introduction to studio-based television broadcasting. In this course students will: learn lighting techniques,camera operation and theory (both studio and portable) sound production and theory and post production concepts such as editing and special effects creation will be introduced. Additionally, the importance of teamwork, punctuality, working safely and a commitment to excellence will be stressed in all aspects of the course curriculum. This course enrollment is limited to 22 students.

This course will teach students digital communication skills using a project-based approach to learning professional web design and the associated development process. Using Adobe web tools, the course curriculum will develop four key skill areas: Project management and collaboration, design, research and communication and professional web-authoring tools. In addition, we will learn about how the internet works and about the emergence of new technologies such as HTML 5 and Ajax. The importance of teamwork, punctuality, working safely and a commitment to excellence will be stressed in all aspects of the course curriculum. The pre-requisite for this course is TGJ201, TGJ3/4M . This course enrollment is limited to 24 students.

This course will give students an opportunity to extend and broaden their knowledge of television production by building on the core concepts learned in the grade eleven TGV3M2 course. We will learn how to work with High Definition video, shoot with the latest DSLR HD cameras and composite green screen video in Adobe After Effects. Students will have to produce content for the LTV news crew such as; in-depth news stories or mini-documentaries on topics of interest to the Leacock school body. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to specialize in areas of interest like; editing, post production, camera, sound, audio production and directing. Course participants will be expected to produce a 'portfolio worthy' product by the end of the course. This course enrollment is limited to 22 students.

This project-driven course will give students a better understanding of some of the technology programs offered by the Toronto District School Board and Stephen Leacock C.I. in general. In this exciting, fast-paced program, students will have an opportunity to experience essential must-have skills for today's digital world! You will learn digital photography, Photoshop, InDesign, engine design & operation, computer mechanics & operating systems, computer programming, electronics and as a special bonus; an introduction to Television and Multi-Media!
This course will prepare students for the more advanced technology courses offered in grades 10 and up. There is no prerequisite for this course, all are welcome! This course enrollment is limited to 24 students.

This course introduces students to computer programming. Students will plan and write simple computer programs by applying fundamental programming concepts, and learn to create clear and maintainable internal documentation. They will also learn to manage a computer by studying hardware configurations, software selection, operating system functions, networking, and safe computing practices. Students will also investigate the social impact of computer technologies, and develop an understanding of environmental and ethical issues related to the use of computers. Additionally, the importance of teamwork, punctuality, working safely and a commitment to excellence will be stressed in all aspects of the course curriculum.
